Flowermining

A compulsive value on beauty runs deep in Los Angeles. The flower acts in its service: it is an ever-altering symbol often transcending itself from ‘being’ into ‘thing’. This spectacle flows throughout the city, with varying perspectives on if this organism is in fact traditionally living. Flowermining is a feminized monolith, a metabolic scaffolding that objectifies the flower, celebrating its beauty and delicate nature. While normally the flower acts in the service of others, this infrastructure, almost masculine in its material form, serves the flower highlighting its radiant energy.

Developed during Dutch Invertuals Academy, organized and led by Dutch Invertuals, for the exhibition entitled: True Matter.
